From a factory boiler room to renowned theatre...

The Factory is a renovated circa- 1929 group of buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and, in later years, the Jamison Bedding Company. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. Through this renovation the co-founders of the Boiler Room Theatre decided to convert the old boiler room of the factory into a theatre company dedicated to serving Williamson County and surrounding areas.

Renovations to the old boiler room at The Factory began in November 2000. The theater opened on March 16, 2001.

The old boilers were removed from what is the backstage area and dressing rooms. And in keeping with the flavor of the The Factory, one of the smaller boilers is displayed outside the theatre and is used as unique signage.

The bulging (south) brick wall to what was formerly the "sawdust room" (and what is now the theatre lobby) was replaced.

Structural repairs in progress in what is now the seating area (or house).

Many support beams and posts were removed as was the original restroom (lower right of photo)

As of January 2014, we have been undergoing renovations. At this point, we are unable to maintain a regular season and regular hours. We do plan to start back full swing at the beginning of the year.

Normally, we would have all of our season dates and times readily available and we apologize for the inconvenience. The Factory was supposed to have the renovations completed this past June and it is unlikely that we will be in by the end of the year.

We apologize for the frustrations. If you would like to know more about the shows we are able to do this year, you can sign up for our mailing list or follow us on Facebook. Have additional questions? Contact Us.
